NAS-5100, QNAP's high performance 1U NAS Controller, is adopting advanced 64 bit BUS technology with 19" industrial standard chassis.
Featuring Intel Pentium III Tualatin CPU, built-in 1GB ECC DRAM, dual Gigabit Ethernet for fail-over and load-balance, two SCSI Ultra 320 VHDCI interfaces, NAS-5100 offers the extreme flexibility for external storage expansion such as SCSI hard disk drives, RAID subsystems, and tape drives.

QNAP's NAS 5100 Controller is combined into multiple solutions, ranging from just 1.6 TB to 25.6 TB. The latest industry RAID solutions from several leading storage manufacturers can be combined with QNAP NAS 5100 Controller, to create a robust data storage solution.
(Any Ultra 160 or Ultra 320 SCSI connected RAID solution, including IDE to SCSI can be used to connect to the NAS 5100 controller, although for support direct from SQS Ltd any RAID box used must be on our certified RAID solutions list, which is available on request)
Upto four independant SCSI RAID boxes (all of which could be running RAID 5) can be connected to the NAS 5100, and then in turn the NAS 5100 will create a RAID 5 data set from the four RAID boxes. This then creates a very fault tolerant, fast Network Attatched Storage resource.
Every NAS 5100 can also be replicated to another NAS 5100, or even to a NAS 4300 or NAS 4120B (NAS 4300 & NAS 4120B scheduled only), real time or on a scheduled basis for the ultimate corporate business data protection solution.
You may wish to replicate on a real time basis the accounts database, which is held on the volume Accounts, but the the General volume which contains less important information may only need to be replicated once a day, say at 2am thus saving network bandwidth. Replication can also or course be acheived over a WAN connection.
Combine all this with an Ultra 320 LVD SCSI interface as standard on the NAS 5100 and you have a real high performance NAS solution that will meet and exceed all your performance expectations. You can scale from 1 TB to 16 TB easily. No other product combines the range of enterprise level features with such a competitive price point.

High Usability--Real Time Remote Replication
Supporting real time remote replication of important data, NAS-5100 enables important corporate data to be preserved in a more reliable fashion, such that critical data do not get lost in a catastrophe. When remote file directory and local file directory are setup correctly, synchronization of specified directories will be duplicated at the remote matching directory. The remote replication is optimized such that duplication only includes the difference in file updates at any time. When files in the local directory are deleted, the files at the remote directory will also be deleted accordingly.
